Inclement Weather Policy

The Allen School will follow the Little Rock School district closing schedule during inclement weather.  If the LRSD is closed, The Allen School will be closed. If LRSD opens late, The Allen School will open at the same time. If LRSD dismissses early, we will close early.  In the event that LRSD is closed for the holidays, The Allen School weather closings will the announced on Channel 4 KARK. In any other unusual circumstances please call the school.

The Allen School is in the process of revamping its school menu to incorporate healthier food choices. The idea behind the shift is that foods served in school should promote the health of all children. Exposing children to new tastes and textures when their tastes are still developing is also a goal of the move. Highly processed foods will slowly be taken out of the menu. Changes will be implemented gradually to give children an opportunity to become accustomed to the new menu items. The project has already seen success with foods such as spaghetti sauce with pureed vegetables, whole grain breading that include flax seed and leaner meat options like turkey. Artificial ingredients are also being targeted in the menu redesign. Parents can see the changes in the menu, posted here each month.
